Great Game of Poker

Among the sometimes difficult decisions in poker is one game on the River. Because the pot is after the last dealt card to the greatest mistakes at this point the most expensive part. A bad call or a lost bet with the best hand you may even mess up one among the whole session. Of course, it may not always be so dramatic, but on the river often take the right decision, will certainly have a positive impact on the Winrate. Since I am so far received very little specifically on his hands, I want to catch up now with this example:

The enemy I knew relatively well. Actually he is one of the tight player, but his game recently designed a little looser preflop. He is post-flop aggression with a value of 2 in any case, a cautious player.

After it was folded to him, he opened the cut off. In the position of its range is relatively wide-ranging. I personally think that with Q10 suited, a hand, which makes post-flop play is very well positioned, especially against a more passive opponents, so I called and not 3-bedded. The flop comes with two cross 8QK. Surprisingly, he checks to me. Normally you would really have expected C-bet, since he at the flop but can represent a few hands. To see where I stand with my second pair, I sink 3 / 4 pot. Without hesitation, he at long calls. Hmm, now add the question with which hand he raises preflop, but then on such a flop check / calls. Most probable are here probably some draws, which he did not allude to be raised it out of fear, and then perhaps having to give up. True strong draws, such as J10 in cross or nut flush with Good Shot (AJ, A10) junction, or sets and 2 pair, I infer from times when he would have played more aggressively with certainty. So rather draw a naked, or even weaker pocket pairs, or even a lady.

The turn brings the second eight an insignificant card. Again he checks to me. Now I make the first mistake in his hand, rather than relying again on I decide to keep down the pot and check behind. Obviously wrong, if I had best put on a draw, then I have to pay them for any pass. Since I am not with my lady but really felt comfortable and of course the showdown had value, I decided to check.

The third eight on the river seemed at first glance, a good card for me. Again the Villain checked to me and I opted for a value bet of 1 / 2 pot. Followed To my surprise, a speedy check-raise to 3.5 times my bet. At that moment I was completely surprised. I was fully considered the best hand held. Now of course I had to wonder what was faced with a hand for me. First you have to say that my bet was actually romped value fürn ass. If one intends to find the thoughts of flop and turn, but one wonders what sense the River Bet. I give my opponent a draw, and most likely himself had a hand with showdown value. Why the hell I will not even cancel a behind and take up the showdown? I've included on the flop even under pairs as part of its range with smaller, I think of them that I could still get a call. The only question is, to return again on the flop, he would have played as a preflop raiser is not 22-JJ? Check / Call it somehow would have been funny. Anyway, unfortunately I have a bed that was definitely a mistake and needed to decide then whether I should call or fold at the end of his c / r. Actually, I would have had to fold with such an opponent instantly. Players with a low on aggression play in the rarest cases, a big bluff on the river and a c / r to about 28BB is not so without. Unfortunately, I told myself through my own line that looks on my opponents are so weak that he had a good opportunity to bluff me. If we in fact put into him, we would never have thought too much, that I think the draw. The check behind on the turn looked a lot like drawing with certainty. Totzdem was not a good spot to bluff, because the third eight on the river actually was a bad card in order to recognize a bluff. If you then take the opponent type, one would actually need to be clear, be beaten. Certain players have such a river bluff not just on it. If the raise is on the river to beat in most cases. Unfortunately, it was just too, if his line was a bit funny if you at such a donk like me take that a nicely paid at the end, you have obviously done everything right

Conclusion: One of the most important skills in NL Hold'em, it is to recognize when you should start at the River for Value, and when we prefer checks behind and takes the showdown. One should always remember cause if there are enough hands in the range of the enemy, which are worse than your own and strong enough that he can still call a bet. In that case you should do, of course. If not, just check behind. In these situations, take the right decisions, will definitely lead to a safe increase in Win rate.

In other sense, good luck at the tables.
